Refund, and Cancellation Policy

Be Better Bariatrics (BBB) posts its deposit, refund, and cancellation policy

This policy applies to all doctors and procedure types at BBB and is documented on the Health Questionnaire (HQ) and Consent Form. For any questions, please contact your patient coordinator.


1. Deposit and Booking Bariatric Procedures

Security Deposit:

  • To reserve a procedure date, a non-refundable deposit of $500 is required.
  • This deposit will be credited toward your surgery if scheduled within 2 months (8 weeks).
  • Paying this deposit confirms your agreement to undergo the reserved endoscopic bariatric procedure on the scheduled date.
  • Change requests for the reserved date must be submitted at least 2 weeks prior to the scheduled procedure via email or written notice.
  • Failure to submit timely notice will result in forfeiture of the deposit.
  • If payment is made by wire or direct deposit, send a scan or clear photo of the receipt with your name to giovanna@bebetterbariatrics.com.

Remaining Balance Deposit:

  • After your first consultation with the doctor and nutritionist, a payment of 30% of the remaining balance is required to set the procedure date.
  • The full remaining balance must be paid at least 15 days before the procedure.
  • Out-of-town patients (Mexico or USA) must have a zero balance before traveling.
  • Refunds or cancellations of the remaining balance deposit are subject to the refund and cancellation policy outlined below.

2. Procedure Pricing Details

Procedures in El Paso, Texas:

  • Total cost is split as:
    • $7,000 charged by the hospital
    • $3,000 charged by Be Better Bariatrics
  • The deposit, booking, refund, and cancellation policies apply only to BBB’s $3,000 portion.
  • Hospital fees are governed by separate policies.
  • Prices may vary due to hospital, equipment, doctor, or nutritionist fees.

Procedures in Tijuana, Mexico:

  • Scheduling requires a minimum of 6 weeks’ notice.
  • The full procedure cost must be paid before travel.
  • If not paid in full, the procedure may be canceled or rescheduled and refund/cancellation policies will apply.
  • Total cost charged by BBB is $6,000 (subject to change based on hospital, equipment, doctor, or nutritionist fees).

3. Insurance and Additional Programs

Insurance Fees:

  • BBB offers optional BlisCare insurance costing $508.94.
  • All deposit, booking, refund, and cancellation policies apply to this insurance fee once purchased.

Back to Fitness Program:

  • An optional “Back to Fitness-Personal Coaching Plan” is offered by Breakaway Training (owner Felipe Loureiro).
  • BBB does not charge or receive compensation for this program.
  • All agreements and policies related to this program are between the client and Breakaway Training only.

4. Refunds and Cancellation Policy

Refunds depend on preparation costs including hotel reservations, hospital room booking, transportation, nutritional consultation, supplies, etc.

Procedure Canceled for Medical Reasons (pre-op period) Possible refund minus costs incurred by BBB (transportation, hotel, pre-op tests, doctor fee $350, processing fee $50, nutrition consultation $100). Physician’s fee is non-refundable and non-transferable.
Procedure Rescheduled 10% rescheduling fee of total cost applies unless due to life-threatening emergency or medical illness. In those cases, full credit minus incurred costs applies. Physician’s fee remains non-refundable/non-transferable.
Cancellation ≤10 Days Before Surgery (no rescheduling) Forfeit 30% of procedure fees plus non-refundable deposit.
Cancellation 11–24 Days Before Surgery (no rescheduling) 60% refund minus incurred costs.
Cancellation ≥25 Days Before Surgery Full refund minus incurred costs.

Additional notes:

  • Patients must complete all pre-operative diagnostics; failure to do so resulting in cancellation means loss of entire deposits.
  • Cancellation rules apply based on originally scheduled procedure date even if rescheduled.
  • All cancellations must be submitted in writing via email.
  • Refund processing takes 6 to 8 weeks.
  • Collection costs will be added to any balance owed.
  • More than one reschedule incurs a $150 penalty.
  • Rescheduling less than 2 weeks before procedure forfeits any discounted rate.
  • Clients are responsible for any international credit card fees.
